 Teodora Pogonat Photography is South Austin's premiere full service photographer.

Teodora Pogonat is an award-winning, published fine art and portrait photographer. Born in Bucharest, Romania, and raised in Miami, she settled in Austin, Texas in 2000.

Her photographic style is strongly influenced by the multi-cultural environment she grew up in, and from the extensive domestic and international travel, she has done throughout her life.

Her passion for photography was sparked by discovering Ansel Adams’ landscape photography when she was twelve years old. She then began dabbling with film photography, learning how to make her own prints. By sixteen she was published, and ever since then has crafted thoughtful narratives through images.

After leaving a career as an electrical engineer in 2013, Teodora transitioned to professional photography. She earned an Associates of Applied Science degree in Professional Photography with a minor in portrait and wedding. She is a candidate for a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) accreditation,  granted by the national Professional Photographers Association.

Teodora loves pushing her capabilities by extending the limits of digital photography. She explores how to shape and capture light in technically provocative ways. “There’s not a camera I’ve held that I could use and didn’t love,”  says Teodora. From iPhone, 120 films to professional digital cameras, she can manipulate images with the tools at her disposal.

She explores light, naturally saturated color and breathtaking scenery by placing subjects in symbolic poses with nature as a backdrop.  Her portraitures encompass bold and symbolic environments influenced by her study of the flirtatiousness of emotion and drama, similar to what one finds in the old master painters.
